PUDDLE OF MUDD
Puddle of Mudd is an American rock band from Kansas City, Missouri, consisting of Wesley Scantlin (guitar and vocals), Paul Phillips (guitar), Douglas Ardito (bass), and Greg Upchurch (drums). To date the band has sold over 7 million albums, and has had a string of #1 singles in the U.S. While their songs expectedly contain the rage of such contemporaries as Korn and Rage Against the Machine, Scantlin's voice at times is eerily similar to Nirvana's late, great frontman, Kurt Cobain, containing unmistakable elements of traditional hard rock (unlike the other aforementioned band's penchant for rap). August 2001 saw the release of their major-label debut, Come Clean (which was preceded by the independent release Abrasive), the band subsequently remained somewhat busy, releasing Life on Display in 2003 and Famous in 2007. For all their platinum albums, awards and sold-out shows, Puddle Of Mudd has retained their organic approach to songwriting, usually starting with Wesley at home with an acoustic guitar. "If it sounds good and it makes your skin goose bump-up then you're probably onto something", says Scantlin, "It's about passion and writing music that connects with other people and somehow heals them. I really want to try to crawl under peoples' skin and at the same time make some kick-ass rock 'n roll music." www.puddleofmudd.com
